The Tuxedo Club, founded in 1886, is a large, private club located 45 miles north of New York City in Tuxedo Park, New York. The maintenance department is expected to maintain an 18-hole Robert Trent Jones golf course, as well as a clubhouse campus that includes a boat house and a tennis house. The golf club shares, in rotation, the legendary 1894 matches with Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, Newport Country Club, and the Country Club. In 2014, the Tuxedo Club will host these matches, as well as a Met Amateur Qualifier this golf season.

Responsbilities:

Assistant will work closely with the Superintendent and other assistants in a team atmosphere. In-house projects will be the norm for the upcoming years. Bunker restoration, drainage, tee reconstruction, and possible installation of a new irrigation system will be experienced over the next 3-5 years at the Tuxedo Club. Other responsibilities include chemical and fertilizer applications, seasonal crew management, project supervision, hand watering, disease identification, budgeting, etc. Assistants will be expected to do whatever it takes to provide the best conditions possible.

Qualifications:

Must have 2 or 4 year degree in turfgrass management or horticulture. Must have completed at least one summer internship.

Responsbilities:

The Assistant / Irrigation tech, under the supervision of the golf course superintendent or assistant superintendent, is responsible for the programming, operation and maintenance of the golf course irrigation system(s). The irrigation specialist is required to report any irregularities in course turf quality to the superintendent or assistant superintendent. Waters greens, tees and fairways, operates irrigation heads in dry areas needing additional water. Repairs the irrigation system, pipes and irrigation heads as needed. Operates dump trucks and other light equipment in hauling materials and removing debris. Supervises a small labor force for special projects, and performs other duties as directed by supervisor. Must have a thorough understanding of agronomy, turfgrass science and the rules of golf. Ability to follow oral and written directions Possess a valid driver's license. The individual should be a dedicated team player who will do whatever it takes to produce the best playing conditions for the membership. Must have good communication, organizational and leadership skills as well as have a keen eye for detail.

Qualifications:

Turf certificate / A.S or B.S degree in turfgrass management or closely related field. Working knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to an irrigation system, including automatic valves and controllers, and working knowledge of various types of pumps and pumping systems. Must be able to obtain New York State Pesticide License within 90 days of hire date. Speaking and understanding Spanish a plus. Must understand the game of golf, have a solid work history and carry very high expectations for themselves and the golf course at all times.

The assistant / spray tech, under the supervision of the golf course superintendent or assistant superintendent, performs chemical and fertilizer applications on specified areas of the golf course. The assistant / spray tech is responsible for reading, understanding and keeping current with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Candidate must have supervisory license upon  employment. *Must have a pesticide applicators license or be willing to obtain (aquatic vegetation control 5A) for at least NY, NJ or CT for the 2014 season.

Compensation:

Based on experience - NO WEEKENDS OR HOLIDAYS Company uniform & cell phone. Paid time off and holidays after 90 days of employment. Dues paid for local associations. This is a year round, long term position with potential to advance to Regional Manager.
